The date is September twenty second, 1602.
My family and I have arrived at Jamestown. It's great to finally be in a land where we can start a new life, free from any burdens in our past. We live around the center of town, in a partially built cottage. Right now, I'm taking a little break from working on the room to write down my progress, and our story so far. On one end of our house, we have a small garden. It is slowly growing, and provides just enough to keep us fed. We're also growing tobacco, in hopes that we can sell it, to improve our current living conditions.
Ive heard there is another colony a couple of miles away. I....We are not sure if they are friend or foe. Hopefully, once we get everything situated here, we can travel to them.
Almost everyone here is friendly. There are those who are still bitter about our situation, disappointed that our slice of America is nothing more than a large grouping of trees. I should return to working, so I'll end this entry here.
Sincerely,
G Hanson
