Blog Post #5 (Possible Final Post)

Benjamin Franklin- He was one of the five men in the committee that drafted The Declaration of Independence. Also in 1776, he became the American ambassador of France, in hopes of gaining alliance with the French.

John Adams- Was also one of the five to draft the Declaration of Independence. He also was the first to think to be allies/ have diplomatic relationships with Britain's enemies I.E. Spain and France.

Thomas Jefferson- When he was 33 years old, Thomas was asked to write The Declaration of Independence with the likes of Benjamin Franklin and John Adams. He also served as John Adams vice president and eventually our third president.

I think that Independence is a double edged sword. On the one hand, we are free from all the laws and taxes Britain might shove down onto us, and we are free to create our own standards. But on the other hand, while we were with Britain, we had a certain feeling of protection from the rest of the world, and now that we've broken off from them, we have a target on our back from the largest empire in the world.
